When we remember life’s milestones, we rarely think of emails, meetings, or the quiet moments we spend alone—folding laundry, commuting, or scrolling through social media, a constant stream of artificial connection. We remember moments of significance. We remember an event. The day we said, “I do.” The moment our child walked across the stage. The family reunion that turned a backyard into a chorus of laughter. In San Antonio, these memorable moments are part of our DNA—woven into our festivals, our parades, our music, and the food we share around the table.

For me, events and experiential moments have never been just business. They are a way of life, a calling, and at their core, they are about engagement with others. They are the glue that binds us together. And they don’t have to be grand to be powerful—a cup of coffee with a friend, a handwritten note, a small gesture that says, “I see you; I am here.” These little touches often leave the deepest imprint on our hearts.

In a world like today’s, often seemingly flooded with business, fear, and uncertainty, it can be easy to choose feelings of overwhelm, hesitancy, or apprehension over opportunities to gather. Schools hold back on celebrations, families skip traditions, birthdays pass unnoticed because life feels too busy. But here’s the truth: events are essential to maintain and deepen our connection with others. Dinner parties, reunions, and milestone celebrations are how we pause, how we honor, how we create the memories that define us.

When we gather, something magical happens. We look each other in the eye. We sing over cakes. We cheer at concerts until our voices are hoarse. We cry, laugh, hug, and remember together—all while making new, distinct memories. These moments remind us of who we are—and that we belong.

Events don’t require fireworks or extravagance; they require presence and intention. They remind us to slow down and show up for each other. In San Antonio, where Fiesta pulses through our veins every spring and the River Walk transforms into a sparkling winter wonderland each holiday season, we understand this instinctively. Our city thrives on togetherness, on the energy of shared celebration, and on the joy that comes
from celebrating with our community.

When we feel divided, we need events to unify us. When things around us look uncertain, we need experiences that move us, engage our hearts, and remind us of what it means to be human. San Antonio knows how to celebrate—but we also know how to inspire, feel, honor, and remember.

When people think of me, a CEO of an experience marketing company, they may think of highly produced festivals, large-scale sporting events, or extravagant galas. But what I’ve spent my life championing is bigger than a parade or a stage. It’s the power of shared experience. Life is not meant to be lived in isolation; it’s meant to be celebrated together, with intention, love, and presence.

So here is my invitation to San Antonio: don’t rush past the moments. Don’t downplay the gatherings. Lean in and show up for one another. Create space for laughter, music, art, and memories. Because in the end, it’s not the emails or projects we will remember, it’s the events that define us, the connections that move us, and the community we build together.
