Surrounded by the beauty of the historic Alamo Gardens, an unforgettable evening commemorated the 190th anniversary of the Battle of the Alamo and raised more than $1.5 million to preserve this sacred site for generations to come.

Lantern light fell across limestone walls that have stood for nearly two centuries as San Antonio gathered in the Alamo Gardens for an evening that held both reverence and possibility. The Alamo 190 Salute was not merely a celebration of history. It was a reminder of why history asks something of us, and how a city answers.

Presented by the Kate Marmion Charitable Foundation and chaired by Margaret and D.B. Briscoe alongside committee members Leah and Brad Lacy and O’Kelley and Paul Little, the evening honored the 190th anniversary of the Battle of the Alamo. Guests began the night with cocktails and exclusive tours inside the historic Cavalier Building before gathering beneath the open sky of the Gardens for a program that unfolded under the stars.

Among the most anticipated moments was an exclusive preview of the Texas Cavaliers Education Center, an innovative learning space designed to ignite curiosity and welcome visitors of all ages. The Texas Cavaliers helped launch the project with a landmark five million dollar gift, and the Kate Marmion Charitable Foundation completed it with a final five million dollar contribution, ensuring the space would become a reality rather than a dream deferred.

By the close of the evening, guests had raised more than $1.5 million in support of the Remember the Alamo Foundation’s mission to preserve and protect this sacred site. Preservation, at its most meaningful, is an act of love. The Education Center is where that love becomes a doorway, opening the Alamo to the curious minds who will carry its story forward for generations to come.
